Collection and Use of Personal Information
I only ask for personal information when I truly need it to provide a service to you (such as sending my periodic newsletter or improving site experience). I collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. I also let you know why I’m collecting it and how it will be used.

What data I store, I employ commercially reasonable methods to ensure the security of the information you provide to me and the information we collect automatically. This includes using standard security protocols (see Data Protection below) and working only with reputable third-party vendors (see Third-Party Disclosure below).
I may use the information I collect from you when you sign up for my newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:
• To improve my website in order to better serve you.
• To send you periodic emails. This happens only after clear consent has been given in requesting subscription to my newsletters.

My website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to my site as safe as possible.
I use regular Malware Scanning.

In addition, all sensitive information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

I may also use trusted third-party services that track this information on my behalf.

If you turn cookies off, it won't affect the user's experience.
I don’t share, sell, trade, or otherwise transfer any personally identifying information publicly or with third-parties, except when required to by law. This does not include my website hosting service (Squarespace) and my email marketing vendor (Mailchimp), which assist me in operating my website, conducting my business, and serving my users. I have not enabled Google AdSense on my site but I may do so in the future.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States' consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online.
I do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old.
Fair Information Practices
The Fair Information Practices Principles form the backbone of privacy law in the United States and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice Principles and how they should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.
In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices I will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:

CAN SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.
I collect your email address in order to send information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions
To be in accordance with CANSPAM, I agree to the following:

• Identify the message as an advertisement in some reasonable way.
• Include the physical address of my business or site headquarters.
• Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used.
• Honour opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly.
• Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of each email.
